Dress Code
2008-09
In our efforts to promote a community that encourages trust and caring as
well as high academic achievement NoVa students are expected to dress
tastefully, modestly, and in a manner that is appropriate for a learning
environment.
The following guidelines are included to assist students and families in
selecting appropriate dress for school. The Dean of Students reserves the
right to make the final decision regarding the appropriateness of a
student’s dress.
•
Tube
tops, halter tops or spaghetti strap tops are allowed if they are layered
with a shirt with sleeves
•
No
visible midriff or underwear
•
Shorts, skirts and dresses may be no shorter than mid-thigh
•
Pants must be fitted
•
Shoes must be worn at all times. In the interest of safety, NOVA
recommends that flip-flops and open-toed shoes not be worn
•
Clothing or accessories may not depict drugs, alcohol, offensive/obscene
pictures or language, or “gang” attire
While hats, hoods, beanies and other head attire are permitted on campus,
hoods may not be worn in the classroom. Hats may be worn in the classroom as
long as, in the teacher’s opinion, they do not interfere with the learning
